Your Reason to Call on the Services of a Celebrant

If you are reading this you are probably in the process of planning one of life’s milestone events and want to create an occasion that reflects you or your loved one and the unique story that surrounds them.

A celebrant is a person who performs and officiates formal ceremonies –such as weddings, vow renewals, baby naming, or even funerals and memorials. The celebrant can make your occasion unique, it is far from one size fits all, you can have the vows you want, the music you want, the readings you want. You can have as much or as little religious content as you wish. If you and your partner are of different religions, you can have a blend from your different traditions.

I have trained with the Fellowship of Professional Celebrants and hold both the Certificate in Marriage and Family Celebrancy and the Certificate in Funeral Celebrancy and want to help you make your occasion right for you and as unique as you and your story are.

Wedding

Wonderful, are you planning a wedding or a civil partnership?

I imagine you are looking to create an occasion that reflects you as a couple and your unique story, you want your ceremony to be remembered for all the right reasons. Perhaps you are looking for a way to include some of your favourite people. You may want a traditional style ceremony or an alternative one, I can help you plan the perfect ceremony that reflects your relationship together.

Commitment and Renewal of Vows

A Renewal of Vows Ceremony is an occasion for a couple to renew the vows they made on their wedding day. It is a way to commemorate a love that has deepened or matured.

There are many personal reasons why a couple would chose to renew their vows, a special milestone wedding anniversary, the rekindling of a relationship after a separation, recognition of the strength of a relationship after a difficult period, or in honour of welcoming a new child into the family, or indeed for any reason they so choose. In fact any couple, of any age, married or committed to each other for any length of time, can arrange a renewal of vows ceremony.

A Naming Ceremony or Baby Naming

A Naming Ceremony is a family celebration, dedicated to the arrival of a child (or children). A naming ceremony, unlike a baptism or christening, is unlikely to be held in a church, it can take place outside in a park, or as a small intimate event in the back garden, or in a venue hired for the occasion, the choice is yours.

The focus of a naming ceremony is about the child and the hopes the parents have for the future of that child. It is an opportunity to open the family unit to the new member, to welcome them into the family and celebrate their arrival with loved ones, whether they are newly born, step-children, or an adopted child, which is a special interest of mine having been adopted myself.

Funeral Service

The final farewell is one of the many important steps we have to take to take to adjust to this new circumstance. As your Celebrant I will give every attention and take care to create a personal and bespoke ceremony for your loved one.

A funeral service provides comfort for family and friends. It is a time to come together to acknowledge the loss of a loved one and to share stories and memories. Through music, readings, poetry and reminiscences, we tell their story in a shared experience of reflection.

I offer non-religious services but am very happy to include any spiritual references, words or music that will bring comfort while respectfully representing the beliefs of your loved one. Using information gathered during a meeting I will write a service that is a true representation of the person you have lost. The script will be sent for your approval and amendments made at your suggestion. If anyone would like to take part by giving readings, prayers or playing music, I can liaise with them so that the ceremony runs smoothly as possible.

Memorial Services

Sometimes it is not possible to give your loved one the send-off you, or they, would have liked. Once some time has passed you may feel more able to celebrate your loved one’s life and to include a wider circle of people who were influenced by them but missed the chance to show respect by attending the funeral.

Holding a service of remembrance, memorial service or celebration of life ceremony is the perfect way to honour the person who has passed. Unlike a funeral, time and venue restrictions do not apply.

As a civil celebrant, I am able to write the eulogy and help you structure the service. I can liaise with anyone wanting to participate and can act as the master of ceremonies on the day.
